The fortress developed into a city under the rule of the Romanovs - the ruling dynasty in Russia from Peter's grandfather Mikhail until the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II. You will visit PETER AND PAUL CATHEDRAL where nearly all the Russian emperors are buried.

PETERHOF TOUR - Another summer residence of Russian emperors. You will tour the Upper Garden which resembles Versailles in its planning and, of course, the Lower Park with its incomparable Fountains. Your guide will show you many beautiful fountains along with pavilions and sculptures that bear historical significance. You'll walk to the bank of the Gulf of Finland and see Kronshtadt City on a far away island.

On the way back to St. Petersburg you will have a chance to see the "not so touristy" St. Petersburg making a a short METRO TRIP the interiors of which recall palaces not subways.

For example quick lunch at Russian Pie Shop will cost you about 16 USD p.p., Russian Restaurant Gogol from 30 USD p.p., Summer Palace Restaurant in Peterhof from 32 USD p.p.

EVENING ACTIVITIES:

After the tour of the first day you may return to the ship or to attend the theater either to hear an opera or to watch a ballet ( from $60 - $200 depending upon theater, performance and seat location). We will reserve the best tickets in advance for you for a very memorable cultural experience. You can visit famous Mariinsky (former Kirov) Theater, Hermitage Theater, Mikhailovsky Theater, Alexandrinksy or any others you may prefer. If you choose to hear and see something that is connected with Russian folklore, there are folklore shows ($60-$85) at your disposal with Russian dances, song, tricks, traditional Russian instruments (balalaika, gusli, playing on wooden spoons, or on saws) and much more, or simply enjoy a dinner at a good( not so touristy) Russian restaurant. Feel free to share all of your travel wishes with us. We are happy to assist.
